The same goes for its webcam-blocking Privacy Shutter and rapid charging feature, which Lenovo says gets the battery to 80 percent in an hour. A backlit keyboard, active pen support and a fingerprint reader are available options as well. Lenovo IdeaPad C340 Andrew Hoyle/CNET The 14-inch IdeaPad C340 will start at $450 (about £345 or AU$630) for Intel and AMD models, while the Intel-only 15-inch will start at $500. Those prices will get you low-end components like an AMD Athlon 300U or Intel Pentium 5405U processors and a 1,366×768-pixel resolution TN display. But, you can also expect options like a full HD-resolution IPS display, up to a Core i7-8565U processor and discrete Nvidia GeForce MX230 graphics when it arrives in April. 1 Joining the C340 are the slim IdeaPad S340 and S540 laptops. RBIs Reference Rate for Dollar Today

first_imgThe Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Wednesday fixed the reference rate for the US dollar at 49.2453 rupees and the euro 65.1638 rupees.The corresponding rates of dollar and euro for the previous day (February 21, 2012) were 49.0835 rupees and 65.1705 rupees respectively.Based on the reference rate for the US dollar and middle rates of the cross-currency quotes, the exchange rates of British pound as against the rupee is 76.7485 as against 77.7973 on the previous day (February 21, 2012) and that of Japanese yen is 61.53 as against 61.52 the previous day.last_img

30 injured as police RMG workers clash on 4th day of demonstration

Photo: Suvra Kanti DasAt least 30 people were injured in sporadic clashes between readymade garment workers and police in different areas of Savar and Ashulia, on the outskirts of the capital, on Wednesday, reports UNB.The workers from different RMG factories in Ulail of Savar and Kathgara in Ashulia area brought out processions demanding their wage hike, witnesses said.At a stage of the procession, the workers reportedly threw brickbats at police triggering a chase and counter-chase that lasted for about an hour.Police charged baton and lobbed tear gas shells to disperse them, leaving at least 30 people injured, according to the witnesses.A tense situation is prevailing in the area following the incident. A team of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) was seen patrolling in the area to fend off further troubles.Following the clash, traffic movement on Baipail-Abdullahpur highway remained suspended for about an hour as the RMG workers put up barricades in Narsinghapur of Ashulia.Agitating RMG workers are seen chanting slogans blocking road in Savar on Wednesday. Photo: Suvra Kanti DasThe garment workers also blocked Dhaka-Aricha highway at Kalampur in Dhamrai in the morning, halting traffic movement for nearly an hour.They, however, left the place upon request by the law enforcers.Earlier in the morning, thousands of RMG workers in different parts of the industrial zone of Savar started demonstration for the fourth consecutive day on Wednesday, demanding cancellation of the ‘discriminatory’ wage board announced by the government for them.Officials of the Industrial police said the workers from several RMG factories in Ulail and Genda areas started gathering on the streets since morning and began demonstrations by setting tyres on fire.The agitated workers also hurled brick chips at their factories, witnesses added.The workers of five factories put up barricades on Bishmile-Jirabo road in Kathgara of Ashulia demanding wage hike.Besides, the production in four factories in Ulail, Hemayetpur of Savar and Charabagh of Ashulia, remained suspended since Wednesday morning following the unrest of the workers.Agitating RMG workers are seen in front of a factory in Savar on Wednesday.
