Hardik Pandya’s form with bat and ball a good sign for Team India: Harbhajan Singh

first_imgBrief Scores: India (252 all out) beat New Zealand (217 all out) by 35 runs in Wellington. James Neesham 44; Yuzvendra Chahal (3/41) (FULL SCORECARD)India spinner Harbhajan Singh lauded India after their dominant show in New Zealand in the one day international series. India on Sunday beat New Zealand by 35 runs in the fifth and final ODI to wrap up the series 4-1 in Wellington.India have been in ruthless form since the Champions Trophy and have won 10 out of 11 bilateral ODI series. Of these 10 victories, five bilateral series wins have come overseas. India also won the Asia Cup in UAE last year.”There’s no doubt India are far superior team in world cricket at the moment. We were thinking, matches in New Zealand will be bit tough but it shows how strong this Indian team is. We keep talking about an opposition being weak but we should also reflect on our team and see how strong they are. We are technically, mentally… in fact in all departments of the game very strong. They have worked really hard and are getting the right result. It’s very heartening to see the way Indian team is moving forward. A lot of credit must be given to Virat Kohli and the management for setting really, really high standards,” Harbhajan told India Today.Looks like the “JOSH” in the squad is “HIGH SIR”‘HOWS THE JOSH’ – @vickykaushal09 #TeamIndia (@BCCI) February 3, 2019Hardik Pandya produced an all-round show hitting a fiery 45 off 22 balls and also bagged two wickets in India 25-run victory over New Zealand at the Westpac Stadium. During his blazing knock, Pandya also hit a hat-trick of sixes to help India post 252 on board.advertisement”Hardik was fantastic with the bat and of course with the ball. I am so glad to see the kind of form he is in. He put the controversy aside. He made sure that nobody talks about his cricket. I am so glad that he is performing really well and he is a very, very important member of the Indian team. I am happy for him. He is delivering with the bat and ball and these are good signs for Team India,” he said.India’s top-order struggled again in testing conditions before Ambati Rayudu, Vijay Shankar and Pandya helped the side recover from 18 for 4 to post a fighting total. Rayudu, who hit 90 off 113, put on a 98-run stand for the fifth wicket with Vijay Shankar (45 off 64) to arrest the slide.”Ambati Rayudu has always been a class player. He has got the temperament to score runs in big games and I am really happy with his progress in international cricket. I am so glad he performed really well today. I hope he continues to work hard on his game,” Harbhajan said.Harbhajan was also all praise for India’s fast bowling attack and said Jasprit Bumrah’s return would only strengthen the side.”Jasprit Bumrah is by far the No.1 bowler for Team India. We are lucky that he is playing for India and not for any other country. he’s lethal and a match-winner. I always say he’s the Virat Kohli of Indian bowling attack. With him whether it’s Bhuvneshwar, Shami or Umesh, who is doing really well in domestic cricket. I think Umesh should also be part of one day side. It’s so heartening to see that we have a fast bowling unit that can bowl over 140 consistently. We never had this kind of luxury as far as the fast bowling department is concerned. When Jasprit Bumrah returns, this team will be even more difficult to beat,” he said.India and New Zealand will now play a three-match Twenty20 International series starting February 6.Also Read | Hardik Pandya a natural talent and a match-winner: Ravi ShastriAlso Read | Virat Kohli on India’s 4-1 series win vs New Zealand: Shows our characterAlso Read | Kane Williamson gracious in defeat: India a world-class side, deserve series winlast_img read more
