first_img Hannah Huner selected for leadership program A brother/sister duo from Charles Henderson High School will be among the 32 delegates to the 2019 Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) Student Leadership Program in Montgomery March 5-6.Brock Huner, a senior, will be among the 2018 delegates and his sister, Hannah, a junior, will be among the 2019 delegates.Hannah said the AHSAA Student Leadership Program is a two-year program and only 16 are selected from across the state each year. She is honored to have been selected and excited to share this experience with her brother. I’m looking forward to going and being a part of this leadership program.”Hannah said she also wanted to be a member of the AHSAA Student Leadership Program because she likes to be involved with school activities.“I’m a hands-on person,” she said. “I feel that, if I can improve my leadership skills, then I can make a positive impact on my classmates and school. Knowing how to lead effectively is an area that I feel can make me a positive example for others.” Skip Off campus, she is a member of Twenty-One Club, the Rotary Student Ambassadors and the SheBang Dance and Clogging Company.Hannah said she is a hands-on person who likes to get involved. Sometimes, she has to remind herself that there are 24 hours in a day and it’s okay to take a break.Her community service activities include Turkeys from Heaven that delivers food to the needy, Interact Club bagging groceries, Habitat for Humanity Cookie Sale volunteer, Troy Elementary Fall Festival volunteer, St. Martin Catholic Church Youth Group and ACYC Youth Conference.Hannah expressed appreciation to her parents, Chris and Tracey Huner for their support of all her activities.“My parents attend as many activities as possible and they provide whatever resources are necessary for the activities,” she said. “I really appreciate their support and encouragement.” Pike County Sheriff’s Office offering community child ID kits Book Nook to reopen Hannah said leadership is providing direction rooted on sound moral values and strong principles.“My view is that so many young people are willing to get involved but they lack the little push necessary to get them going,” she said. “I feel that a strong leader can give those undecided about how to get involved the nudge in the right direction. My parents instilled in me moral values and principles founded on faith, education and love. A good leader is not afraid to get involved.”Hannah is an honor student at Charles Henderson High School and is involved in a variety of extracurricular activities. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Interact Club, Future Business Leaders of America, CHHS Culinary Competition Team, a varsity cheerleader and a member of varsity track and field.She has served as Interact Club president, sophomore class president, FCS secretary and SGA treasurer.
